A video circulating on social media claims that Aseefa Bhutto Zardari stated at the Global Women’s Forum in Dubai that former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s life is in danger while in custody. However, this claim is misleading and takes Aseefa Bhutto Zardari’s words out of context.
The video shared by various users on social media shows Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (@MediaCellPPP), speaking to Al @AlArabiya_Eng at the Global Women’s Forum in Dubai. Users claimed in the video’s caption that when Aseefa Bhutto Zardari was asked about Imran Khan’s safety, she said, “Imran Khan’s life is in severe danger at the moment.”
However, the video clip actually shows the host asking Aseefa Bhutto Zardari about the credibility of claims that Imran Khan’s life is in danger. Aseefa responds, “If someone says their life is in danger, it should be taken seriously.”
In reality, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari’s response was presented online in a misleading manner, with edited clips attempting to create a false impression. During the interview, she did not say that @ImranKhanPTI‘s life is in danger.
Al Arabiya English interviewed Aseefa Bhutto Zardari at the Global Women’s Forum in Dubai on November 28. The conversation between the host and Aseefa is as follows: Host: “Imran Khan claims that his life is in danger at the moment; how credible do you think these threats are?”
@AseefaBZ: “I think if someone says their life is in danger, it’s a matter that we should take seriously, but it’s reassuring to know that all avenues are open for him [Imran Khan].” “For instance, all courts are available for him to contest his cases, and all his needs are being met in jail, whether it’s newspapers or exercise equipment. I wouldn’t want anyone in Pakistan to face huge difficulties. I hope he’ll go through the court process, and the courts will deliver their verdict.”
